From Coach Cooper -

The following information is a chronology of some of the accomplishments of the team since I have taken over ten years ago. This can seem to be a bit confusing to the non-swimming educated community. However, it is pretty easy to explain. Let me try.

First, our seasons are broken into two parts. A Fall/Winter season, called short course, (same as high school and college swim) and a Spring/Summer season called long course. (same as Olympic level in the Olympic sized pool).

National competition is overseen and run by USA Swimming. (Governing body of our sport in the United States) Local state competition is run and overseen by Michigan Swimming. (Local governing body of swimming in our state-Michigan Swimming does report to USA Swimming and is a member of USA Swimming)
