OLY Coaching Staff 2007/2008 Head Coach - Jeff Cooper
Jeff is entering his 23rd year as a swim coach and his 11th year as the Head Coach of OLY.  He has coached all levels of swimming from beginner to an Olympic Gold Medalist.  He graduated from Oakland University with degrees in Secondary Education and Mathematics.  While at O.U. he was a 13 time All American Swimmer and the team captain.  Jeff was nominated in 2003 as USA Swimming Developmental Coach of the Year and has been recognized by the American Swim Coaches Association for "High Level of Excellence" for the past five consecutive years.  Jeff was the guiding force in bringing OLY to "Silver Medal Status" in USA Swimming’s Club Excellence Program for six of the last seven years. He was also “coach of the year” at the 2007 NCSA Junior National Championships in Orlando this past March.  He resides in Ortonville with wife, Lyn, and children Hannah (7), Michael (4), and Emily (4).
Head Age Group Coach - Ahern Naylis
Ahern is returning to OLY for his 9th season.  He is originally from Grand Rapids, Michigan.  Ahern is a specialist in Age Group Swimming with 14 years of coaching experience.  He came to OLY after 3 years as the head coach for the Rockford Riptide.  He attended Grand Valley State University with a major in English.   Along with his Head Age Group coaching duties at OLY, Ahern runs the OLY Swim    School.  He also serves on the Age Group Development Committee for Michigan Swimming and has coached Team Michigan at the Central Zone Meet.  He resides in Rochester Hills.
Assistant Senior coach - Dan Hafner
Dan is returning for his second year with OLY as the Head Senior Assistant. Dan is a former club swimmer in Michigan and was a member of the Birmingham Bloomfield Atlantis swim team back in the late 80’s and early 90’s. Dan was a junior national level swimmer while at BBA and was a high school All-American at Groves High School.  Dan then went on to swim at Oakland University from 1995-1996 an also at South Carolina University from 1998-1999. Dan previously spent spent seven years coaching at the Pointe Aquatics swim team in Grosse Pointe before coming to OLY. He is also currently the Assistant coach and manager at Lochmoor Country Club. Dan has his degree in education and is certified in physical education K-12 grade.

Assistant Age Group Coach - Amber Golden
Amber is returning for her third year with OLY .Amber was born and raised in Bowling Green, Ohio. She was a member of the Bowling Green Swim Club at age 6 until she graduated and went on to swim at Bowling Green University.  Amber helped coach Bowling Green University’s team in her fifth year and also worked with the club team at the university as well.  She graduated from Bowling Green with a bachelor’s degree in physical education and then went on to get her masters degree at the University of Toledo in Health Education. Amber works mainly with the technique and junior groups at OLY. Amber currently lives in Oakland Township with her new husband and OLY alumni Ryan Golden.
Assistant Age Group Coach - Aaron Holdsworth
Aaron is returning for his second year with OLY. Aaron is currently a member of the Oakland University Men’s Swim Team. He is originally from Wollongong, Australia.  Aaron was the 2006 Mid-Con Conference champion is the 200 fly and is also a distance freestyler.

Assistant Age Group Coach - Dawid Tatarczyk
Dawid is returning for his second year at OLY. Dawid is originally from Woodizlaw, Poland. He was a member of the 2005 SMS Oswiecim national championship team in Poland. He was a member of the Polish national junior team.  Currently Dawid is a member of the Oakland University Men’s Swim Team and is a middle distance/distance freestyler.
Assistant Age Group Coach - Mike Weaver
Mike joins OLY for his fourth coaching season after teaching in the OLY Swim School.  He has 9 years of coaching experience in both swimming and water polo.  His experience includes 2 years as Head Coach of Haslett Women's Water Polo, 3 years as Head Coach of the Haslett Blue Marlins, and 2 years as Assistant Coach of Men's Varsity Swimming for Haslett. Mike was also the assistant coach to the 2006 Avondale Girls High School team and is currently the Head Coach for the 2007 Notre Dame Prep Girls High School team.  Mike has a Business Degree from Michigan State University and was a member of the MSU Water Polo Team, the 2002 Big Ten Champions.  He resides in Royal Oak with his wife Kate.
