SANCTION:

This meet is sanctioned by Michigan Swimming, Inc., as a timed final meet on behalf of USA Swimming, MI0708048.  Michigan swimming rules, safety, and warm up procedures will govern the meet as if fully set forth in these meet rules.

 

LOCATION:

Oakland University Aquatic Center. Oakland University is located in Rochester, Michigan, at 2200 N. Squirrel Rd., Rochester, MI 48309. The pool is located in the Athletic and Recreation complex.  Parking for the meet is available in the lots north and west of the pool. Oakland University is directly accessible from I-75 at University Drive (East) exit #79. For map directions and hotel information, please see the Oakland Live Y’ers website (www.olyswim.com).

FACILITIES:

The Oakland Aquatic Center, located in the Student Athletic/Recreation Center, is an 8-lane 50-meter pool. Depth at start is 14 feet deep and 4 feet at the turn. Permanent starting blocks and non-turbulent lane markers will be used. Colorado timing and scoreboard will be used with 8-lane display.  There is ample balcony seating for 1000 spectators. Lockers are available (provide your own lock).  Public phones will be available. Oakland University, Michigan Swimming, Inc., and Oakland Live Y’ers are not responsible for lost or stolen items. We will be using 7 lanes for competition and 1 lane for continuous warm-up and warm down during the AM session and on Friday evening. There will be no warmup/warmdown lanes for the afternoon session. All 8 lanes will be used for competition for the afternoon session.

 

ELIGIBILITY:

“A” time standards for 13 & Over (Seniors), NO time standards for 12 & Under (Age Group)

 

ENTRY LIMITS:

Swimmers may enter a maximum of four (4) events per day (not counting relays).  The 1500 does not count towards maximum number per day. Entries will be accepted on a first come first serve basis by date of email for electronic entries and date of postmark for hard entries until the Michigan Swimming four (4) hour per session maximum time limit is met. Entries received after the four (4) hour per session time limit has been met will be returned even if received before the entry deadline. To balance sessions to meet the four (4) hour per session time limit, the Meet Referee and Meet Director reserve the right to apply any or all of the following: (i) split age groups, (ii) split teams or (iii) over the water starts.   The Friday Session Psych Sheet will be posted on the Oakland Live Y’ers website (www.olyswim.com) no later than 10:00 PM, June 11, 2008.

ENTRY

PROCEDURES:

 

 

 

 

(1) A swimmer must have achieved the qualifying time, if applicable, in order to enter the event. (2) If a swimmer is entered in too many events the swimmer will be entered numerically and automatically scratched from excess events without any further notification to the swimmer of scratched events.  There are no refunds for excess events.  (3) Swimmers must have a seed time.  Entries with “No Time” or “NT” will not be entered in the meet without any further notification to the swimmer.  There are no refunds for NT entries.  Times must be submitted in long course meters.  Times may be converted from SCY/SCM to LCM to establish a seed time.  (4)  All relays must have a seed time

 

OLY will begin receiving entries May 5, 2008. Deadline for entries is Tuesday, 10:00 P.M., June 3rd, 2008.  Age on June 13th, 2008 will govern the entire meet. Entries must include swimmer name (no nicknames, official registered names must be used), age and USA number. You can import the order of events and event numbers from the Michigan Swimming website www.uss-michigan.com. All individual entries should be submitted via electronic mail to the entry chairperson at emerson486@comcast.net in Hy-Tek format. Any entries submitted will be processed provisionally until the entry chairperson has received a hard copy of (a) your club’s signed release/waiver agreement, (b) your club’s signed certification of entered athletes and (c) your club’s entry and entry fees.  The complete meet entry packet with entry forms is available on the Michigan Swimming Website at www.uss.michigan.com.

ENTRY

Paper entries may be submitted to the entry chair on a spreadsheet of your choice; however the paper entry must be logically formatted and must contain all pertinent information to allow the entry chair to easily enter the swimmer(s) in the correct events with correct seed times. Individual entry by email or by phone is not allowed. Note: The Michigan Swimming rule pertaining to non-electronic entries applies:  Add $1.00 per swim for all non-Hy-Tek compatible entriesMake checks payable to OAKLAND LIVE Y’ERS.

 

ENTRY

FEES:

$4.00 per individual events, $10.00 per relay event. Deck entries are $5.00 (see DECK ENTRIES) There is a $1.00 MS surcharge for each swimmer.  Note: The Michigan Swimming rule pertaining to non-electronic entries applies:  Add $1.00 per swim for all non-Hy-Tek compatible entries Make checks payable to OAKLAND LIVE Y’ERS.

REFUNDS:

All team changes must be sent via Hy-Tek file. Changes are allowed until entry

 deadline.

 

No additional updates to seeded times or event changes are allowed after this deadline.

 

Events can be changed by the use of a “scratch event/add event” procedure on the day of the meet, however, swimmers will be charged the deck entry fee per event changed.  All entry questions on the day of the meet must initially be presented to the Clerk of Course.

CHECK-IN:

All swimmers MUST check in. CHECK IN IS REQUIRED NO LATER THAN 15 MINUTES AFTER THE BEGINNING OF WARM-UP.  PLEASE FOLLOW THE POSTED CHECK IN PROCEDURE AND MICHIGAN SWIMMING CHECK IN RULES. This procedure will be in accordance to Michigan Swim uniform process. Check-in sheets will be located on the pool deck near the locker rooms. Signs for check-in will be posted. Check-in will close 30 minutes prior to the start of each session. THERE WILL BE A SEPARATE CHECK-IN FOR THE SENIOR 400 FREE. CHECK-IN FOR THE SENIOR 400 FREE WILL BE SATURDAY BY 2 P.M.  Failing to swim an event after check in will disqualify a swimmer from his or her next event. Heat sheets with the proper lane assignments for each swimmer will be posted prior to start of each session.

 

STARTS:

Dive-over starts for all events will be used according to Michigan Swimming rules.

 

DECK PERSONNEL:

Only swimmers, registered coaches, and meet workers are allowed on deck.  Coaches and officials must display their registration cards at all times. All certifications must be current or those individuals will be asked to leave the meet.

 

 

SEEDING:

All events are TIMED FINALS, seeded slowest to fastest.  The 400 IM, 800 Free and 1500 Free will be run fastest to slowest, alternating women and men. Except for the fastest heat, the 800 Free and 1500 Free are swum with 2 swimmers per lane (staggered start). If needed, the 13 & up 400 Free will be swum with 2 swimmers per lane.  For operational purposes, OLY will be timing these events with stopwatches only.  Any swimmer participating in the 800 Free and 1500 Free is required to provide (1) Timer with a stopwatch in order to swim the event.  The 400 Free, 400 IM, 800 Free, and 1500 Free will not be limited by number of heats, but only limited to comply with Michigan Swimming four (4) hour per session maximum time limit. Swimmers will be seeded according to times, all 12 & U swim together and all 13 & Up will swim together. Results will be posted by age group for awards.  The 400 IM, 800 Free, and 1500 Free will be swam as “Open” to allow swimmers under 13 years old to participate.   12 and under swimming open events must meet the time standard.

 

SCRATCH

RULES:

After checking in, swimmers must swim their event or be scratched from their next event. Swimmers, who do not check in, will not swim their scheduled events.

 

ADMISSIONS:

$5.00 for entire day (12 and under with adult free)

 

MEET

PROGRAMS:

$8.00 for a 3 day program. Coupons for heat sheets in program.

AWARDS:

No awards will be given in these categories:  13 and Over (men and women).  Awards will be given to the following age groups for boys and girls: 7&U, 8 only, 9 only, 10 only, 11 only, 12 only. AWARDS WILL NOT BE GIVEN OUT DURING THE MEET.  OLY WILL MAIL THE AWARD TO THE CLUB WITHIN 7 DAYS OF THE MEETS CONCLUSION.  PLEASE USE THE AWARDS FORM TO INFORM OLY WHERE THE TEAM’S AWARDS SHOULD BE MAILED.

 

SCORING:

There will be no team or individual scores kept.

 

FIRST AID:

First aid will be available on the pool deck.

 

DECK ENTRIES

The Meet Referee and Meet Director reserve the right to accept DECK ENTRIES   providing session time limits are maintained.

 

 

TIME TRIALS:

Time Trials may be allowed depending on the timeline of the meet and the decision of the Referee and Meet Director. MI0708048.

 

CONCESSIONS:

Food and drinks will be available each day of the meet.

LOST & FOUND:

This will be located on deck and marked accordingly.  Articles not claimed will be held for 2 weeks by the Meet Manager.

 

RESULTS:

Results will be posted on the Michigan Swimming website at www.uss-michigan.com/ as soon as possible following the meet.  Hy-Tek results will also be available immediately following the Sunday conclusion of the meet (to coaches only) upon request.  For a hard copy, please provide a formatted floppy disk.

 

 

FACILITY

ITEMS:

(A)       No smoking is allowed in the building or on the grounds of Oakland Aquatic Center.

(B)       Pursuant to applicable Michigan law, no glass will be allowed on the deck of the pool or in the locker rooms.

(C)       No bare feet allowed outside of the pool area. Swimmers need to have shoes to go into the hallway to awards or concessions.

(D)       An Emergency Action Plan has been submitted by the Host Club to the Safety Chair and the Program Operations Chair of Michigan Swimming prior to sanction of this meet and is available for review and inspection at the main desk of the Oakland University Athletic Center.

SWIMMING SAFETY:

 

Michigan Swimming warm up rules will be followed. To protect all swimmers during warm-ups, swimmers will be required to slip into the pool except when sprint lanes have been designated. [The same rules will apply with respect to the warm-down pool and diving well]. Penalties for violating these rules will be in the sole discretion of the meet referee. There will at all times be at least: (a) three (3) marshals monitoring a 6 lane pool, or (b) four (4) marshals monitoring an 8/10 lane pool, during all warm ups. All such marshals will be members of USA Swimming.

 

SWIMMERS WITH DISABILITIES:           

All swimmers are encouraged to participate. If any of your swimmers have special needs or requests please indicate them on the entry form and with the Clerk of Course and/or the Meet Referee during warm ups.

 

INFO:
