MEET RESPONSIBILITIES FOR SWIMMERSThe following procedures will assist the swimmer and his/her parents in expediting their time at a swim meet:1. As soon entries are posted on the OLY website, confirm that you are entered in the meet correctly and check what events and days you are swimming. Any problems should be reported to your coach as soon as possible. 2. Set your goals for each of the events entered. Each race is a new opportunity to achieve one of these goals. 3. Obtain a heat sheet at the meet and check to see if you are properly entered in your events. If there is a mistake, discuss it with your coach so he/she can take corrective action. 4. Complete your stretching routine and report to OLY lanes for warm-up. 5. All OLY swimmers are required to wear the team suit or an approved SPEEDO suit and the team cap in competition, and other team apparel when not swimming. This promotes team unity and pride, and greatly aids spectator recognition. 6. Each OLY swimmer is responsible for knowing which events he/she is swimming and for being on time to swim. Prior to warm-ups, parents of younger swimmers should write event numbers and events on a swimmer's hand. 7. If possible, before a swimmer reports to the blocks, he/she should confer with a member of the coaching staff to review race strategy and goals. 8. At the conclusion of each race, the swimmer should ask the lane timers for his/her unofficial time. Upon receiving this time, the swimmer is asked to come immediately and directly to the coaching staff present at the meet. This gives the coaches an opportunity to discuss the race with the swimmer and add positive comments concerning splits, stroke technique, race strategy, etc. 9. When the official results are posted, note your official time to the 1/100 of a second and record it. The team will get official results and will post them on the website, but you should know your time since mistakes can be made. 10. Check with
the coaching staff prior to leaving the swim meet confirming your child's relay
responsibilities. If for some reason a swimmer must leave early, please notify the coaches as soon
as possible so that other swimmers may be informed as to whether they, too, will
be needed for a relay. |
