Swim School

 WELCOME TO OLY SWIM SCHOOL

Swim School is held at Oakland University
Levels 1 and 2 - 6:00 - 6:30PM
Levels 3 and 4 - 6:30 - 7:00PM
Classes will be held Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday


Fall Session I

September 14 - October 28, 2010, $130 (7 weeks)

All swimmers add $55 for Annual USA Registration

 

Fall Session II

November 1 - December 16, 2010, $130 (7weeks)

All swimmers add $55 for Annual USA Registration

 

REGISTRATION:

If you are new to the OLY Swim School Program you MUST first contact Dione Szydlowski at mszydlowski@wideopenwest.com prior to registration. If you are a returning swimmer you may proceed with the registration process (see below).

Swim School registration will be available on Monday August 2, 2010. Once you have contacted Dione Szydlowski and she has confirmed that space is available, you will be directed to follow  the Registration link on the left hand side of the Home Page. All payment for Swim School should be made by CHECK on the FIRST DAY OF CLASS.


  Just A Few Reminders For The Swim School Program
 
 The OLY Swim School is for swimmers age 6 to 9 years old.

The 1st day of each session will be an evaluation day for new swimmers.  The coaches will make sure the swimmers are in the correct group.

Please try to be on deck and ready at least 10 minutes prior to your lesson time.

  The swimmers must be comfortable in deep water.



All efforts will be made to contact parents if practice is canceled for any reason.



Level 1 -
Develop a general comfort level in the water
              Basic floating on stomach and back
              Proper kicking for freestyle and backstroke
              Introduction of freestyle and backstroke arm pull

Level 2 -
Complete understanding of freestyle and backstroke
              Breathing patterns for freestyle and backstroke
              Introduction of breaststroke
              Introduction of turns for freestyle and backstroke

Level 3 -
Complete understanding of freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke
              Introduction of breaststroke turn and pullout
              Introduction of competitive start
              Introduction of butterfly
              Introduction of butterfly turn

Level 4
- Understanding and general mastery of all four competitive strokes
              Understanding of all four competitive turns and streamlines
              Understanding and general mastery of competitive starts
              Complete understanding of butterfly
